Well, I don't know about other people / anime characters named Misaki, but in this case, I don't agree all the way with this analysis. Although it's true that our dear Misakichi is indeed independent, practical, and analytical (when she wishes to be), we must remember that she's only a child in the series. So her focusing on material and financial success is out of the question. The Angelic Layer doesn't really have prizes to be won (aside from being recognized as the champion deus). The thing that makes this game worthwhile is that it's fun. What else is more enjoyable than doing all your best to beat your opponent and still be friends with them? Uh, don't answer; that's a rhetorical question ^^v

Even if Misaki is into Angelic Layer so much, she hasn't forgotten the world around her. She still hangs out with her friends and does the cooking. She remains thoughtful and innocent throughout the series. And yes, she's expressive of her emotions (but not as expressive as other anime characters when it comes to anger and stuff. She isn't whiny at all ^^). Anyone who knows her personally can't help but love her because of her sweet and gentle disposition. She has even broken down Sai's icy exterior! Not to mention unknowingly changes Arisu and Madoka's cunning personalities!
