[ AS A FRIEND ]
This page is meant to show how Misaki interacts with the rest of the Angelic Layer cast. Spoilers abound, but then again, you should know that by now.

The first one Misaki befriends is a mysterious guy named Icchan (his real name is Mihara Ichirou; she calls him Icchan-san though. So polite ^^v). Although to us (the viewers) he looks mighty suspicious (what with wearing a white lab coat, stalking a little girl, and all), she isn't reluctant to give him her trust. It is because of his encouragement and guidance that she becomes a deus herself (a good one at that). He is the one whom she runs to whenever an Angelic Layer related stuff bothers her (like when she loses against Hatoko). She kind of looks up to him as a father since she doesn't have one. She later finds out that Icchan is the man behind the hit game.

A blue-haired kindergartner named Kobayashi Hatoko is the second one Misaki befriends. Though they are rival deuses, they don't let it get in the way of their friendship. In fact, when Hatoko loses against Sai, it is Misaki who consoles her. It is kind of ironic that this would happen considering the older girl is previously defeated by this wonder child. Anyway, from then onwards, their relationship is only strengthened when they renew their promise to each other: to do their best no matter what happens. When Misaki moves on to the semi-finals, she chooses Hatoko be her second (an assistant, if you will). By the way, it is Hatoko who tells Misaki that neither age nor height matters in Angelic Layer, a fact which helps the latter overcome her insecurities.

Kobayashi Kotarou is Hatoko's older brother and Misaki's classmate. He calls Misaki by her last name (Suzuhara) because as far as he's concerned, it doesn't seem romantic. It's ironic, of course, since he falls in love with her anyway. Although he hasn't exactly voiced his feelings, he considers Oujirou his rival for Misaki's affections. This shows on episode 21, when the gang goes to the beach to have fun. When Oujirou invites Misaki to go someplace special, Kotarou tries hard to postpone it. He fails =( But I don't think Misaki would return his feelings anyway. She's too naive and is thus oblivious to anyone who likes her.

Kizaki Tamayo is Kotarou's childhood friend. She glomps onto him and uses him to practice her karate moves on whenever she has the chance. She's secretly in love with him, but he's too dense to notice it. When he confesses that he likes Misaki (whom Tamayo fondly calls Misakichi), Tamayo neither encourages nor discourages his feelings (she's neutral ^^v). Anyway, she's very supportive of Misaki from the beginning 'til the end. Not only that, she's an avid fan of Misaki's cooking. She's protective of her too; anyone who disses Misaki's skills as a deus gets verbally assaulted by Tamayo.
